Proposed Session Description
Quality energy modeling is a core tenet of Passive House, making early-stage models imperative to set a project up for success. In Massachusetts, incentives from MassCEC and MassSave have been huge catalysts for projects to dive into early evaluations. These Feasibility Studies are a great tool for the design team and owner to understand how their decisions impact overall efficiency. Basics like geometry, assemblies, and systems can be evaluated, allowing the design team to test alternates including those that may provide cost savings. This session will review what inputs are needed to generate worthwhile results; breakdown what exactly the results from the WUFI ‘report card’ mean and how best to articulate the project parameters to the client and team. Using the results from numerous projects, we will look at challenges we faced, how we worked to meet the targets, which inputs had the biggest impacts on the model and how these affected the ongoing development of the project.
