Proposed Session Description
Too many decisions are made on the initial capital construction costs, but there is a high cost to being cheap. When it rains inside, uncontrollably uncomfortable, or ventilation is VE’d, it costs a lot in the end to save money up front. BEC will go over the lessons learned on projects and how spending money on building performance can save a lot in the long-run.
Learning Objectives
Issues can be resolved pre-design and during design
Argue for building performance during VE phases
Advocate for non-energy benefits and risk management
Understand that “simple payback” is not a performance benchmark
