Proposer Additional Info
Abode has been working with the MassCEC on a pilot called Decarbonization Pathways. From this work we are thinking a lot about how we are going to find and train workers for the many clean energy jobs needed to transition residential homes to clean energy at scale. e4TheFuture's recently released jobs report tied in nicely with our topic, and the opportunity/need to diversify this workforce.
Proposed Session Description
Residential Energy Efficiency programs are poised to see a tectonic shift in scope from weatherization to decarbonization that will include deeper retrofits and strategies to eliminate fossil fuels. Expanded measures will include heating and cooling, cooking, renewables and batteries, transportation, and air quality improvements. The skillset for the decarbonization professional will need to be broader and be supported by other resources that go deeper. Abode Energy Management will discuss the skills and expertise needed in the workforce to grow into this space. MassCEC will discuss multiple career paths, traditional and non-traditional training programs, and feeder programs, such as the Targeted Internship Program, that could prepare candidates with the right skillsets. They will also discuss their work partnering with community-based organizations to recruit members of environmental justice communities to career paths in these fields. E4TheFuture will discuss recruitment strategies to highlight the benefits of working in clean energy and how we must compete with other workforces to gain the numbers of professionals needed to meet Massachusetts 2030 goals.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
This session addresses the lack diversity of the workforce in the energy efficiency industry and how, as the industry is on the cusp of change and growth, we have an opportunity and a responsibility to address this.
Learning Objectives
. Provide attendees information on what skillsets will be needed to grow their business.
. Understand current state of diversity of the Massachusetts Clean Energy workforce and how to participate in programs that will train and diversify their own teams.

Session Format
Presentation followed by facilitated discussion or breakout groups
Session Format Details
3 presentations, I would recommend we keep them to 10-12 minutes each and then followed by a moderated panel discussion. I would try to make it as interactive as possible, perhaps taking questions after each speaker and then also at the end.
We could do 15-30 minute breakout groups.
