Proposed Session Description
While sustainable building practices refers to both environmental and social sustainability, the built environment should enhance the well-being of not only our planet but also the tenants and users of the given building. This session sheds light on the importance of designing for diversity and inclusion in office buildings while simultaneously incorporating sustainable materials that also strengthen the productivity and health of the employees. We invite you to an inspiring hour, where the Institution for Human Centered Design, will elaborate on the significance of inclusion design followed by a presentation of the importance of the indoor environment in terms of health and productivity enhancement by Rockfon. Lastly, ascending in the case of building Akamai's new global headquarters in Cambridge, MA, Sasaki and Rockfon delivers a roadmap of best practices for designing a workspace that emphasizes diversity and inclusion, while strengthening the health and productivity of the employees, that is also designed for achieving a LEED gold certification using natural and recycled materials. This is a holistic learning session that proves that sustainable practices are not limited to one focus area, but it is in fact possible to create real change for the planet, society, and people - all at once.

Presentation followed by facilitated discussion or breakout groups
Session Format Details
Three 10-minute presentations followed by a 15-minute panel discussion with questions from the audience as well as the moderator. Each 10-minute presentation will also have following 5 minutes allocated for Q&A, which adds up to 30 minutes of allocated time for audience engagement.

Full Description
This session addresses the problems of climate change as well as inclusion and diversity. It delivers examples of how to incorporate sustainable materials to enhance productivity and well-being while still considering the inevitable diversity of the workforce. Attending this session will provide the participants with extended knowledge about the importance of a holistic approach to designing the built environment.
