Proposed Session Description
With home energy performance awareness on the rise, there is a need for a low-cost tool to encourage homeowners to take steps to invest in efficiency improvements. In recent years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual audits have appeared as an alternative solution to identify opportunities for efficiency upgrades in ways that reduce time, effort, and in-person contact. As states continue their efforts to revitalize and upgrade the energy performance of homes and stimulate efficiency workforce activity, virtual energy audits provide a flexible, scalable solution to drive more energy investments and influence homeowners to take the next step with in-person audits.
In order to keep efficiency moving forward, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) and its partners, ClearlyEnergy and Signetron, are working with the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) to launch Remotely, a two-part solution to support the scaling of virtual home energy audits. With guidance from energy efficiency and home industry stakeholders, Remotely aims to support the contractor workforce and homeowners with advancing efficiency work. The project team will share project highlights, provide updates on efforts to help address key technical barriers, and outline opportunities to successfully penetrate the New York market with virtual audit solutions.
