Transform your practice by taking responsibility for the carbon footprint of your work. This session reviews existing tools and frameworks, from planning scale to site and garden design, integrating metrics from both architecture and landscape design, including Sasaki's new Carbon Conscience: Embodied Carbon Planning Tool incorporating both architecture and landscape at the site planning level. Panelists will share their findings from translating primary research into accessible tools and best practices, with examples from planning, architecture and landscape projects.

Learning Objectives
Define the key concepts of emissions, embodied carbon, operational carbon, life-cycle-analysis, and natural carbon sequestration.
Implement new strategies to reduce embodied carbon emissions at the planning level, including architecture and landscape.
Describe the potential to balance carbon emissions with carbon stored and sequestered in building and landscape materials.
Estimate carbon emissions, storage and sequestration in landscape and architecture site planning, including selecting land uses, selecting plant and program typologies, structural systems, building configuration, and construction materials.
