Proposed Session Description
While the 2021 IECC is already being used by some states, wider adoption is anticipated with the initiation of DOE’s RECI program. Funding will enable sustained cost-effective implementation of updated building energy codes, including Zero Energy Codes. We will highlight some key changes in the 2021 IECC and identify 2024 proposals that will have the biggest impact on reaching zero carbon emission goals. Using case studies, we’ll demonstrate how to meet the new testing requirements in the 2021 IECC and explore the relationship between required codes and voluntary programs and standards. We will also identify the role of the Mass. Stretch Code in the path toward Net Zero Carbon and how to add ES to take advantage of the 45L tax incentives.
