Proposed Session Description
As we scale up construction and retrofits for high performance buildings, it is more vital than ever to include Cx in conversations surrounding the built environment and occupant health. Cx plays a crucial role in ensuring high standards are met and maintained beyond construction. Initiating the Cx process in design supports these goals, resulting in better coordination, training, and optimization. By serving as liaison between the design team and contractors, and through the support of holistic building operator training, Cx helps projects achieve long-term energy goals.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Case studies will include affordable housing buildings in NYC where attention was placed on building operator training to improve energy usage and occupant health.
Learning Objectives
Understand the importance of Cx during the design phase
Why it is important for CxAs to be involved in value engineering conversations
Value of holistic building operator training for new construction
Trend data review to meet energy performance goals for new buildings

Full Description
To convey the importance of commissioning in high performance buildings starting early in design and lasting through occupancy. Case studies will be shared detailing lessons learned and successes. There will be a large focus on the design, value engineering, and training phase of new construction projects. Additionally, as buildings get tighter, proper HVAC operation and ventilation are more than ever tied to occupant health.
