Proposed Session Description
This year, Massachusetts significantly updated it's energy codes, dramatically raising the bar for energy performance on new construction; Massachusetts communities will participate in a pilot program to ban fossil fuel connections to new projects; Boston is updating it's Article 37 requirements, requiring net zero energy for new construction starting on day one; and finally, Boston's BERDO 2.0 comes into force with a focus on reducing emissions in existing buildings across the city. The time has finally come for the AEC industry to scale up best practices for net zero and decarbonization. This presentation will summarize all of the new standards, and show case studies on how to navigate these new requirements at scale.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
The opportunities that come with making every building net zero must be available to all, especially the most vulnerable in society. This presentation will touch on the strategies that affect all communities, and how Boston's BERDO Alternate Compliance Payments will be utilized to provide equitable sustainable investment. Patrick is a member of the LGBTQ community.
