Almost exactly four years ago, Superstorm Sandy hit New York and the east coast. The recovery focused attention on making the region’s communities, infrastructure, and buildings more resilient for future challenges of climate change. This session will explore successes and different approaches in public and private sectors working towards resiliency. We’ll examine a large corporation’s strategy for multiple buildings and operations and New York City Housing Authority’s (NYCHA) approach to making vulnerable communities resilient while contributing to the City’s 80x50 carbon goal. Discussions will consider how well prepared the City is now and weigh its ongoing public and private initiatives.
