Sponsored by Whole Forest
Two of the largest sources of global CO2 emissions are tropical deforestation and the mining, manufacturing, and transportation of building materials. What if the production of materials could prevent deforestation and its carbon emissions? Whole Forest has been working with Ecuadorian communities to produce tropical hardwood products, like wall tiles and flooring, that encourage conservation of highly threatened rainforests. The amount of carbon able to remain sequestered in the forest is assigned to the volume of wood specified as a carbon offset. This is a new model of calculating embodied carbon that Whole Forest is pioneering.
Join this conversation with the Whole Forest team in which they discuss how sustainable community forestry can produce materials that dramatically reduce embodied carbon. Participants will also learn how to specify and customize Whole Forest products. We welcome follow-up conversations and requests for samples.
