Proposed Session Description
3-4 presenters discussing why a project needed a more hands off approach or distant project management. Presenters could discuss singular “exemplary” projects or they could discuss overall techniques learned from multiple projects. Did the client not want to pay for CA causing an architect to drastically reduce the number of site visits? Was the project in another state? Did the project team use weekly calls, FaceTime, carefully coordinated site visits for maximum impact? What worked? What didn’t? How would the presenters tweak what didn’t work for improved success in the future?
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Depending on the other presenters recommended for this session, I would hope the panel would not be all white males!
Learning Objectives
Attendees would learn why it is important to be able to execute project management from afar.
Attendees will learn about the communication skills and resources needed to successfully manage a project from afar.
Attendees will learn to see the signs a client is presenting that may suggest CA services will be reduced or eliminated, and thereby allow the architect to prepare in advance.
Attendees will learn techniques for setting up their drawings, specifications, meeting notes, etc. to better facilitate managing a project from afar.
Has this session been presented before?
No
Target Audiences Level of Expertise
Level 2 - Some prior knowledge helpful.
Session Format Details
Presenters would share their slides, knowledge and stories for 10-20 minutes each followed by a solid 20 minute Q&A period. The Q&A period is very important as it allows the audience to ask questions on the items that are most pertinent to them.

Comments about your speaker roster
I would be one of the presenters. Steve Baczek works on a lot of projects across the US. Marc Rosenbaum (formerly of South Mountain Co) may also have experience with distant project management. I would look to the NESEA staff and network to propose other presenters that they know have a significant depth of experience with distant project management.

Full Description
This session is important because New England has a great depth of professionals with the techniques and knowledge for success on high performance buildings. That knowledge needs to be spread to increase the rate at which high performance buildings are built or renovated to better tackle the climate crisis.
