Proposed Session Description
3-4 presenters that were prior "long standing" members of the New England high performance building industry discuss the lessons learned from moving to other parts of the country. As an intro to each presenter, if by choice and not due to a family issue, why did they leave behind a region of like minded professionals, the associated robust wealth of knowledge and an associated deep pool of clientele?
What have they learned in their new geographies?
Depending on feedback from the recommended presenters, to help focus the session, the presenters could focus on new assemblies or details that may be enlightening and or adaptable to New England’s climate. Or potentially a unique project delivery method that is particular to that new geography that may be of interest to New England. Or lessons learned from working within a community with a different background and or priorities potentially not aligned with high performance construction. Or all of the above.
What did the presenters find most useful or applicable in terms of sharing New England “standards” with professionals in their new geography? How did they convince their new community to drink the high performance Kool-Aid if the community was not yet on board?
Diversity and Inclusiveness
The session does not directly address statistical diversity. It does address the need for diversity of knowledge and new and different presenters that the NESEA community has not heard from before or in a while.
Learning Objectives
Attendees will learn new takes on "classic" New England high performance details and assemblies as applied in far flung geographies.
Attendees will learn new project delivery and project management techniques.
Attendees will hear about communication, sales and marketing methods used to convince novice or disinterested industry communities to drink the high performance Kool-Aid.
Attendees will establish a broader perspective of the larger US high performance building network.
Has this session been presented before?

Target Audiences Level of Expertise
Level 2 - Some prior knowledge helpful.
Session Format Details
3-4 speakers each present their lessons learned for 10-15 minutes and then a 20 minute Q&A session. The Q&A session is very important to allow the audience to ask questions that are directly applicable to their current needs and curiosities.

Comments about your speaker roster
The NESEA committee would tap into their deep network to identify prior members that would be a good fit for this session.

Full Description
My personal observation is that the NESEA conference has continued to pull from the same pool presenters each year and is in need of some freshening up. I think it would be great to get people from other parts of the US to present as a means to expose the NESEA community to some fresh perspectives. Some may be directly applicable, others may not, but still spark an adaptation for a local NESEA member. This is one session proposal idea for how to get a wider and diverse range of speakers into the conference.
