Comments about your speaker roster
Very accomplished speakers and riveting presentations with unique material. Affordable multi-family housing addresses issues of equity and inclusion, including access to healthy environments - and is also shattering preconceptions about cost and delivery. Obviously, this is critical to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as to the critical issue of decarbonizing our buildings.
Anything else you'd like to tell us about your session proposal?
Prudence Ferreira will discuss typical bottlenecks in the delivery of affordable high performance housing and the creation of new agile workflows for Passive House and other low carbon projects that utilize open-source tools, and how these tools and concepts can provide the design community opportunities to shatter economic, racial, gender barriers, as well as design and analysis barriers. Colin Booth will show project examples using Placetailor’s integrated model, proving the viability of passive house and zero carbon housing through community oriented development, including the new Zero Emission requirements that PT developed for Boston DND, and current work with the BPDA and city of Somerville. Beverly Craig will speak about affordable housing policies to encourage passive new construction and retrofit work, including QAP revisions to encourage good environmental design and changes in lending practices.
