Proposed Session Description
“Decarbonization” and “All-Electric” are the key buzzwords in energy-efficient home buildings these days. This session will focus on how the market is adapting to the call for electrification, with the assistance of Mass Save incentive programs, to build All-Electric homes that are attainable. We’ll show how participating HERS raters have worked with builders and other project stakeholders to adapt design and building practices to build high-performing All-Electric homes at scale.
Why is this session important?
This session will show that with the right incentives and support, builders and future homeowners can overcome their concerns about building and living in an All-Electric home and create a template for all new homes in Massachusetts and across the country.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Until now the All-Electric home, and the energy stability, durability, and health benefits that come with it have been only for those who can afford it. We intend to show that is no longer the case and the All-Electric home can be built in a cost-effective way so that it is more attainable to those currently priced out of such homes.
Learning Objectives
Analyze programmatic data from an All-Electric Home Incentive program in Massachusetts and evaluate how methods utilized in those projects can serve as a template for all new homes in Massachusetts and across the country.
Clarify what an All-Electric home is, and what it should not be. Looking at specific considerations and designs that ensure occupant comfort, health, safety, and cost.
Evaluate how specific builders and HERS raters in Massachusetts are creating business models around the All-Electric home.
Explore concerns in the market around all-electric homes and how real-world stakeholders are addressing these concerns on their projects.

Comments about your speaker roster
This session was submitted for consideration for Building Energy Boston and ultimately did not make the cut with some feedback that having a builder or other co-presenter would make the presentation more viable. As of this submission, I am in talks with a builder to see if they would be interested in joining this session and sharing case study examples as well as sharing their side of how these programs shape the projects that they develop.
