Proposed Session Description
Boston’s updated Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO), which sets requirements for large buildings, is putting tremendously strict new requirements on the City's commercial and multifamily buildings to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions to reach net zero emissions by 2050. Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) which was recently adopted by the city, can act as a ‘carrot’ for property owners to have a source of funds available to make the necessary capital improvements to meet these requirements. With C-PACE, property owners can access low-cost, long-term, fixed rate financing for measures that impact the energy and water performance of their commercial or multi-family property. In this sessions we will help attendees understand what C-PACE is, its benefits, and how it can be utilized to provide upfront capital for energy efficiency projects in order to comply with BERDO. We will also share best practices and case studies from the similar implementation of LL97 in New York City.

Full Description
Many building owners will lack the upfront capital needed to implement energy efficient upgrades to their buildings in order to meet the energy emissions performance standards of BERDO. C-PACE solves that problem.
