Addressing comfort issues and complaints in a higher education environment while pushing forward sustainability and carbon emissions goals can significantly impact a building’s performance and carbon emissions. In this session, you will dive into the ASHRAE 55 Standard 55 Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy and learn how that analysis created clear scopes of work to improve comfort and building performance. Through use of extensive data logging and trend analysis, you will learn how to evaluate existing thermal comfort, retro-commissioning major HVAC equipment, and identify potential areas of improvements and upgrades. You will also learn how this analysis takes into account the carbon emissions limits set in Local Law 97 to ensure the capital planning strategy future-proofs this building and minimizes or eliminates potential future fines.
