Proposed Session Description
How do we communicate Data to instigate, and support needed change?
Using Power BI and other simple (and some free) graphics programs, learn how to translate your data into images that will help staff identify learning needs, talk more fully to existing and potential clients, and make the changes we need to make to clearly navigate the path to architecture 2030 and other carbon-tied goals.
This session will start with some lessons about communication and engagement including how to make data useful in your change management. The session will continue into some examples of data visualization to make change, and then wrap up with an overview of accessible systems to use.
Why is this session important?
We spend too much time gathering and scrubbing data for use in repoorting, and too littel time using this data to inform impactful change. And THIS needs to change!
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Yes, in that the initial aspect of the session will be about understanding the Why and to learn the perspective of the people receiving the information. E.G. understanding you may need to talk about health more than dollars, or access more than "the right thing to do".
Learning Objectives
1) Identify and understand the importance of Why in creating data visualization
2) Define what aggregated data is best used for, and when bespoke data is needed
3) Understand the architecture2030 goals and the basics of their reporting system
4) Identify 3-5 qualities needed for any useful visualization software
Has this session been presented before?

Comments about your speaker roster
All from EYP. If another perspective is desired, I would invite Frank Ciampa from NYSERDA to discuss the reporting transitions in NYS Government work.
Anything else you'd like to tell us about your session proposal?
This comes a bit from this blog post as well as years of behavior change efforts in complex organizations. http://2bgreener.com/?p=1385
Also from EYPs work, internally, to create change in our project work, overall.
