Proposed Session Description
We discuss learnings from implementing LEED at a system-wide scale for the Ohio Public School System, including: client motivations for pursuing LEED; navigating cost and budgeting to incorporate sustainability; state sustainability mandates and incentives; adapting sustainability considerations to different school districts’ varying needs, demographics and financial resources; efficiencies in purchasing, commissioning and maintenance achieved through a systems approach.
Why is this session important?
Our session addresses the opportunities and challenges of implementing taking a systems approach towards sustainability. Our learnings could benefit other public school systems who might consider a similar approach in their public school system.

Round 1: YES, It is a well put-together proposal! Although it seems like there are too many areas of focus. The session could be narrowed to incorporate only a couple topics, where there can be indepth discussions, such as a. State policies+ Certification challenges, or b. Demographics & Financial resources+ policies, or c. Certification challenges+ Cx

Yes- a holistic proposal on pursuing LEED for schools. - could be a good session for emerging professionals in sustainability.

Round 1 discussion:- Learning objectives are a lot of different things, narrow down to a couple?- Doing this would make the session more in-depth on specific things which would help

Round 2 review - I vote NO on this one. I don't think it aligns with the Building Energy NYC audience, the topic and submission don't mention decarb at all in any way, and LEED at a system-wide level is interesting, but not compelling. It seems the focus is on navigatng the tool itself, more than the actual work that we are facing.   I have reached out to the proposer, and connected via phone and e-mail. If this proposal can do the following, it woud be worth hosting. Otherwise, not. I hope to hear back before the meeting.       1) highlighting an actual electrificaiton aspect to the story.      2) I think they used Arc, which woud be a really good framework tool to introduce and highlight through this, as it woul be useful to any portfolio-based owners, balancing/assessing many buildings, and sustainability beyond the buildings (waste and transportation, specifically).
