Proposed Session Description
This presentation will share lessons learned with contractors looking to scale their own business, and discuss how program administrators & implementers can structure their programs to foster contractor growth.
Over 10 years HomeWorks has grown from a small 5-person contractor to a 500+ person organization operating across multiple state and utility programs in the Northeast. The lessons learned along the way provide a blueprint for growth for contractors and programs alike.
Why is this session important?
With ever increasing funding and national focus on EE & decarbonization, the need to scale operations is more important than ever, especially in such a disaggregated market. In order to achieve our national goals, contractors will need to scale up to meet the demands of the programs, and programs need to adapt to foster growth in their trade ally communities. We will not achieve the outcomes we are looking for without creating systems and structures that allow the men and women on the ground to scale up to meet the increasing demand.
Learning Objectives
Contractors will be able to learn from HomeWorks's mistakes when looking to scale their own businesses
Program designers/implementers will better understand how to structure their programs to foster a growing contractor base
Learn the importance of capacity alignment, owning your supply & demand, diversification, and reporting
Understand how the unintended consequences of program design decisions can limit or encourage trade ally growth
