Proposed Session Description
This session covers an in-depth look at making a switch from an oil boiler using radiant heat via cast iron radiators to ductless mini split heat pumps and how they can work together brilliantly when integrated controls are set up properly. Two colleagues made the switch; there will be photos, fuel use data, temperature data, and insight from each along with first-hand experience of a growing trend of air source heat pumps installed in existing homes.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Our session will touch on the effects of equity in choosing an electric based system with a shift toward beneficial electrification. By doing so, all consumers will enjoy benefits of reduced green house gas emissions as well as achieving cost savings to use towards mortgage or other payments. We will also be sure to note the benefits on an energy efficient mortgage and note case studies available through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Full Description
This session will address multiple problems including: • why it is important to include AC even in a cold climate (indoor air quality/moisture management) • why it is important to move away from fossil & delivered fuels (energy independence, climate change, efficiency, and fluctuating fuel costs) • why it is important to have a backup system (resiliency) • why it is important to address comfort (beyond keeping peace with our partners) This will change attendees' views on what they think or believe a mini split setup can do. It will show that individual zones, proper sensor & control setup, and contractor/consumer education will achieve a comfortable, efficient system that will bring value to a home.
