Proposed Session Description
The 2021 City Clean Energy Scorecard by ACEEE indicates a definitive group of pioneer cities, with progressive policies that address energy consumption in buildings. Our talk shares learnings and best practices from 9 municipal leaders across 6 pioneer cities. The goal is to synthesize feedback from urban leaders of pioneer cities, with insights from U.S. national labs and mission-driven nonprofits like IMT, to inform a policy roadmap that will accelerate energy efficiency in buildings.
Why is this session important?
Emerging cities that are trying to kick start their existing building decarbonization journey can benefit from the learnings and best practices from the pioneer cities. After our research, the cities that learned from the pioneer cities could cut back years in their policy formulation and lay down an initial foundation for their building decarbonization much quicker.
Diversity and Inclusiveness
Our research include equitable considerations in the policy making process.
