Proposed Session Description
When looking to extend its success with its legacy control system, New York City Housing Authority started with open BACnet communication as the center of its new BMS architecture, leveraging its fiber connectivity between campus buildings and including advanced graphics, alarms, exception reporting, and data analytics. The new BMS offers a platform for monitoring plant operation and building temperatures, evaluating energy and carbon reduction initiatives, electronically initiating work orders, and informing continuous commissioning. Including these advances has required NYCHA to work across its enterprise, from Operations/Maintenance to Capital Projects, to IT, and with its business partners and consultants, to bring all the pieces together.
Why is this session important?
Achieving deep energy and carbon reductions in buildings requires information. Advanced controls integrations connect the enterprise and allow real time decision information to all stakeholders.

Round 1: YesGood case study/example of BMS integration across complex portfolio and web of operators. I think it will inspire more straight forward applications to do more with data.

Maybe - I really like the focus on implementing a technology that can improve operations.  This session could be good, with the consultant and building owner - however, i'd want to confirm they can provide real data rather than anecdotes regarding some of the benefits.

ROUND 1 DISCUSSION: Include someone from IT department from NYCHA? Bring in Building Super and someone who works with tech daily. Someone from Opeartions.

Round 2 - Yes
After speaking with Laura and Edwin, I am confident this will be a great session.  They seemed willing to bring in someone from the maintenance deptartment.  They were unsure if bringing in someone from IT would be meaningful for the audience but was willing to summarize some of the IT issues and solutions.  Overall, felt to have a large body of work to pull from, with data to substantiate claims.  I think attendees will be facinated to hear about all the work that went into implementing this enterprise-wide BMS, the results, and impacts on residents.

Round 2 discussion: NYCHA rollout of a portfolio management system, would include technology consultant and building owner. Complex, multi-year project designed to improve tenant comfort and manage energy consumption. Can look at results. Good group of committed speakers. Seems like a good link to the collaboration theme, also unique. Could we get a speaker at the building level, IT department, maintenance? Yes, especially maintenance. Maybe a resident too.
