The Connecticut Green Bank is a proud sponsor of the BuildingEnergy NYC Conference. NESEA’s mission of advancing sustainable energy practices in the built environment strongly aligns with the Green Bank’s mission of accelerating clean energy deployment across residential (single and multifamily), commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors.  We provide financing for high performance buildings by leveraging limited public funds to attract private capital investments.

The NESEA Board of Directors recently adopted a policy to address the types of candidates it will cultivate and recruit when it has the opportunity to appoint new board members. Today’s Members Monthly features an interview with Board Member Jenna Ide, who drafted the policy, about the “why’s” and “wherefores.” Per Nominating Committee Chair Martine Dion, “The Board Diversity Policy is quite an accomplishment for the NESEA Board.

As the country prepares to commemorate the 16th anniversary of 9/11, a team of Forensic engineers at the University of Alaska Fairbanks are busy putting the final touches on their two year $300 K, WTC 7 Evaluation. The forthcoming study is focused on showing why World Trade Center Building #7, a 47 story high rise, not hit by an airplane on 9/11, was able to fall to the ground in less than seven seconds at near free fall or constant acceleration for the 610 foot ride to the ground.

As someone who is deeply involved in Passive House building, participating in BuildingEnergy NYC enables me to work closely with people from other areas of the sustainable building industry. It provides me with new, thought-provoking perspectives and helps me to grow my knowledge networks.

Goal 4 of NESEA’s recently adopted Strategic Plan reads: “Provide an outstanding volunteer program by developing onboarding, engagement and recognition processes to attract new members, and keep current members working toward NESEA’s mission.” I interviewed Jenna Ide, the board member who is championing this goal, to learn more.
