Battery Storage: Are We Nearing the Tipping Point?

With costs dropping and fire codes being written, battery storage in New York City is becoming an attractive option to help manage peak loads. In this session we will explore actual NYC installations and the required considerations to successfully complete a battery storage project. We will also explore near- and long-term projections, and challenges for the battery storage industry as a whole.

LEED v4 in New York City

This session combines experts in LEED New Construction, LEED Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance, and LEED for Homes Multifamily Midrise to get the Building Energy audience ready to succeed with LEED v4. In the first segment, presenters will describe LEED v4 through the lens of the 2016 NYCECC. The session will describe the changes and overlap in LEED V4 and 2016 energy code as they apply to large-scale

The Missing Piece: Tenants in Building-wide Strategies towards Efficiency

This session will explore the impact individual building occupants have on the whole building energy footprint and discuss ways to increase occupant engagement in active energy management, increase participation in sustainability initiatives, and encourage energy conscious decisions. We will talk about utilizing energy consumption data available to building management and ways to develop engaging active participation from occupants in the overall sustainability plan.

Software for Smarter Buildings

Energy-savings opportunities exist in buildings everywhere. Whether a building is new or old, large or small, energy systems will inevitably deteriorate without high-quality maintenance (or without fixing systems improperly configured in the first place). Identification of these problems and their ideal solutions is an expensive and time consuming process, and expertise is limited. This session will explore a variety of software strategies that are helping building operators tackle this problem. We will explore real-world case studies and achieved results.
