Don't Let Thermal Bridging Undermine Your Building's Performance: An Interactive Demonstration of Pitfalls and Solutions

As building energy codes become stricter and we understand the necessity of continuous insulation, previously neglected thermal bridges are now being brought into the spotlight and recognized as a potential Achilles heel of enclosure design. Thermal bridges can undermine insulation values and in so doing cause discomfort, condensation and moisture damages to the building. This session will explore how thermal bridges are identified, analyzed and captured in whole-building energy modelling. Illustrative examples will highlight key trouble-spots in typical buildings.

Can We Future-Proof Our Historic Buildings? Passive House and Preservation Working Together

Most of NYC's buildings are already built, with many buildings more than 100 years old. An ever-growing portion of NYC falls within historic districts. Can we protect these structures so that they will last another 100 years while making them as energy efficient as needed to meet carbon reduction goals?
