Proposed Session Description
How do we entice existing professionals and tradespeople to learn the skills necessary improve the efficiency of building and shift toward electrification? With the imminent need and lofty policy changes to reduce carbon emissions, it is time to shift the focus toward retooling our workforce so that we can start achieving our goals. This session will showcase training facilities and their opportunities and methods for retooling the existing workforce and preparing emerging professionals. We will also discuss some of the foreseeable challenges that may come up with the lack of a qualified and prepared workforce and how to overcome them.
Why is this session important?
This is directly related to the skill gap. Training and education is at the heart of this challenge and with installers, consultants, design professionals properly trained, educating the general population will occur naturally

Round 1: MaybeI like that the proposer has connections to training programs. I am not clear on what "in a BIG way" means and if there is any new informaiotn in this proposed session.

Round1: No. This proposal has a similar theme to the proposal "Sealing the O&M Gap: Empowering Building Operators". This proposal focuses on training the emerging professionals and requires more clarity and focus, the session seem to be quite broad with less details.

Ben Sachs-Hamilton Mon, 05/09/2022 - 12:10 pm

Round 1 Discussion:Underwhelming submission - would have expected it to be more technical. There's nothing "BIG"/a-ha moment in this, which we expected given the title.

Monisha Royan Mon, 05/30/2022 - 5:03 pm

Round 2- No.
Had the opportunity to speak with the proposer. A few of the sessions speakers were confirmed during the discussion and a few were yet to be confirmed.
The content and structure of the proposed session is not yet decided at this stage. The idea focusing & briding the gap between the emerging professionals and the industry is great, but the proposal needs to have an in-depth structure and topics to be decided.
