Proposed Session Description
The Passive House Institute U.S. (PHIUS) has introduced a new version of their standard with the goal of making it easier and more affordable for single-family residential homes to achieve Passive House certification. In this workshop, you will learn about this new Prescriptive Path and how it can simply the design and certification process for single-family homes and make certification available for a wider range of project teams, project sizes and project budgets. This workshop will cover background context on the Passive House standard and origin of the Prescriptive Path checklist and then provide step by step instructions and case studies on how it's used in action. Audience questions and discussion included.
Why is this session important?
Operational energy certification is important but is still not being adopted by a wide single family residential market. This prescriptive path is the first step in providing the lowest operational carbon in our detached buildings while meeting the budgetary constraints of a wider range of constituents.

Yes - addresses the skills gap, because Phius Prescriptive allows teams to certify to Passive House without modeling.

Yes - Skills Gap. I would like to hear from professionals (or who ever)who have gone through the process. I think it would be particularly helpful to hear from the building contractor.

Round 1 Discussion:Question for reviewer to ask: Can a panelist who has gone through the presecriptive certification process be added. (may not be available) Addresses the skills gap. John is good speaker.

YES - Spoke with Lisa White. Requested she reach out to contractors/clients who have either gone through the Rx process or ones that gone through the Phius process and sees the value in the Rx path. Requested they speak on at least 2 case studies. Requested John or other panelists beable to speak on single-family and Multi-famaily proceses. Here is the webinar that the session is based off of: https://youtu.be/f6ZDxh7E9bQI reiterated that the addition of 2 to 3 panelist was preferred.

R2 Discussion:Spoke with John. Has given session before. Add panelists who have gone through perscriptive process. Will get back to us with possible additional panelists. Well thought out and very relevant. Nice to have a single family residential topic. IFeels the skills gap. Question as to whether this has been presented too many times, Is it new? Answer: Different way of getting to certification. And what they are doing to improve. Questiions, Concerns, Suggestions: Make sure builder is included.
